Background

From 1993 to 2004, I worked as a graphic designer and, together with my partner, ran a graphic design agency on the Herengracht in Amsterdam. We developed and produced magazines. Within my role as art director, I worked with many photographers. This gave me the opportunity to pursue my own passion for photography. Since then, I have done all sorts of photo shoots for both private and prominent clients, like Ralph Lauren, Rabobank, Google, Staples, Police, Dutch railways.

Only Free Work

This portfolio highlights my personal free work rather than the many assignments I’ve completed for clients. Most of these photographs were created in my photo studio. It was a difficult decision to separate the two, but the majority of my most creative images were produced during my own explorations in the studio, often in collaboration with some of the coolest models.

Start 7 march 2026
Location: De Buurtwerkplaatsen, Amsterdam
Duration: 4 weekly lessons .

This course is designed for anyone who wants to get more out of their photography, regardless of whether they work with a smartphone, a compact camera, or a DSLR.

Over the course of four lessons, you will learn—in an accessible and practical way—how to create thoughtful and creative photographs. The focus is on creativity rather than on the technical aspects of photography or camera equipment.

We begin with composition and framing, after which you will immediately start working on a photographic assignment. During a group photo safari, you will practice capturing a theme on location. In the third lesson, portrait photography takes center stage, and you will learn how to work with studio lighting, reflections, and different lighting setups.

The course concludes with a concise introduction to image editing, followed by a presentation of your best photograph. This photo will be printed and framed, allowing you to take home a tangible result of the course.

The course is Dutch spoken.
